Edward Meagher is a partner who joined the firm in 2002. He has expertise in all phases of U.S. and international patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright prosecution. Mr. Meagher advises clients who are primarily involved in building IP portfolios in the electromechanical/mechanical arts, software design, IOT, control systems, aviation and space flight. He also is directly involved in the management and licensing of IP assets for emerging business clients. In addition, Mr. Meagher prepares complex License Agreements, Research and Development Agreements, Freedom-to-Operate and Validity Opinions.
Mr. Meagher has over 24 years experience in securing the IP rights of U.S. and foreign businesses. His keen interest in science and mechanics led him to pursue a B.S. in applied physics from Providence College and a B.S.M.E. in applied physics and mechanical engineering from Columbia University. He decided to pursue a career in law, knowing that the patent field offered opportunities to leverage his unique scientific know-how. He went on to earn his J.D. from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. In 2010 Mr. Meagher became a Trustee at Molloy College Energeia Program and is now a frequent Lecturer at BioDesign Israel.

His combined expertise in applied physics, mechanical engineering and IP law enables him to steer clients around various legal minefields in order to achieve commercial success. Mr. Meagher conducts IP due diligence, including patent validity analyses and freedom to operate studies, providing strategic analysis and advice in connection with portfolio growth and management, as well as business strategies relating to mergers and acquisitions.
